Doctor Who season 10 episode 2 spoilers: The emojibots arrive!

Doctor Who season 10 episode 2

If you weren’t excited already for Doctor Who season 10 episode 2, we’ve got a further reason for you to be now: Emojibots!

The title for this episode is “Smile,” and judging from the photo we’ve got for this episode above, all indications are that this may be one of the most adorable episodes of all time. Unfortunately, it’s too bad that this is Doctor Who, and with that in mind, we have to assume that there is so much more going on here than super-cute emojibots. (Remember, Daleks are also kind of cute in their own super-evil way.)

Doctor Who season 10 episode 2 synopsis – “In the far future, at the edge of the galaxy, there is a gleaming, perfect city. This brand new human settlement is said to hold the secret of human happiness – but the only smiles the Doctor and Bill can find are on a pile of grinning skulls.

“Something is alive in the walls, and the emojibots are watching from the shadows, as the Doctor and Bill trying to unravel a terrifying mystery.”

The mystery element of this show is certainly something to be excited about, especially since it seems like we’re looking at something that is both original, new, and also familiar. Given that tonight’s episode was entitled “The Pilot,” and meant in many ways to be a new introduction to the BBC series, one of the things that you’re probably going to see on the show moving forward is a reintroduction to what time-and-space travel really means. It’s a challenge for Steven Moffat and company to delight new and old viewers alike, but we’ve got confidence in them pulling it off. After all, we did personally find “The Pilot” to be rather fun in its execution; the show can, after all, be both silly and serious.

Also, those who wait long enough in this season are going to see the return of many familiar characters, including some that you have not seen in a rather long time in the franchise. (Think here in terms of decades when it comes to one form of Cybermen in particular.)

For the record, we also felt it necessary to note that Matt Lucas will be in this episode as Nardole. He won’t be around for the remainder of this season, but you will see him back next week.
