Chicago Fire season 5 finale: Kris Bryant, Jake Arrieta from Chicago Cubs to appear
NBC confirmed today that both Kris Bryant and Jake Arrieta are going to make an appearance in the Tuesday, May 16 episode alongside Mike Tirico of NBC Sports. The story revolves around a young Cubs fan who finds himself in a serious car accident, and as a result of that loses a valuable collection of baseball cards in the resulting fire. The Firehouse 51 crew is there to help with the rescue effort, and in the aftermath of the accident Herrmann (David Eigenberg) is going to do everything that he can to give him an unforgettable experience to lift his spirits. If this is how Bryant and Arrieta get involved, it’ll be easy to have a smile on your face.
The past several months for the World Series have brought on all sorts of passion for the Cubs, both in the One Chicago universe and elsewhere. Select players made an appearance on Saturday Night Live following the World Series win, and newly-retired catcher David Ross is now appearing over on Dancing with the Stars. Bringing Bryant and Arrieta from the team onto Chicago Fire now is a chance to pay some of that Cubs passion forward, and provide a little bit of optimism and cheer to go along with it. Plus, Chicago Fire and the surrounding shows are quintessential Chicago. As mentioned at the start, few other shows give you the same realistic depiction of the city … at least few shows outside the Dick Wolf universe. We like to think that this is something the guys would do in real life, let alone a fictional TV show.
Chicago Fire is currently on a brief hiatus (the final one for season 5), and it will return with new episodes on Tuesday, April 24. If you want to read some more news on its returning episode entitled “Carry Their Legacy,” you can do that by heading over to the link here. There will be a new episode every week from that point until the finale (with its big-name guest stars) comes on the air.
