Longmire season 6: Some of what’s leading up to premiere
The first thing that you should know in terms of the premiere buildup is that Longmire Days is once again returning to Buffalo, Wyoming! If you haven’t heard about the celebration before, it’s a chance for fans from all over the country to flock to the area in celebration of both the books and the show. This year, it’s specifically taking place from July 7-9. We imagine that series author Craig Johnson will be present alongside some performers from the show. Given that this is the final season, we imagine that there will especially be a great opportunity to see people come out and celebrate the show.
Our advice to any potential attendees is rather simple — if you know you’re going, book early! The town is smaller in terms of total population than the number of people expected to attend; you don’t want to be in a situation where you have to drive in from a faraway distance just to get to some of the festivities.
Beyond the convention, another thing to be aware of here is the arrival of Johnson’s next book The Western Star on sale September 5. That’ll give you a little more in the way of reading material leading up to the start of the season. While the books and the show have some key differences, both of them give you a good dose of Walt Longmire and some other characters. They also have roughly the same soul. Regardless of whether you view the show or the books as the main meal, there’s a lot to like one way or another.
Once there is a firm Longmire season 6 premiere date, we’ll be sure to have that for you. The only thing that we know for now with confidence is that filming is going to continue for the next couple of months at least, and odds are that we’ll see a trailer either in August or early September. We just hope that Netflix gives the show a good rollout and campaign — they didn’t do a whole lot for season 5, though we’re still grateful for the renewal.
