Should Chicago Med season 3 make Charlotte Sullivan (Anna) series regular?

While Chicago Med season 3 may not be official just yet, there’s a case to be made to promote Charlotte Sullivan’s Anna.

The funny thing about the Anna character to date is that even though she’s been at Chicago Med often, it’s never been on Chicago Med proper — all of her credited appearances to date are on Chicago Fire, but there’s a very definite case to be made to bringing her in and having her be a more permanent fixture within that world.

First and foremost, it just makes sense with the story. Anna got a job at Chicago Med after previously being in Springfield. She wanted a new shot, and in turn, a chance to see if something would be there between her and Kelly Severide. On this past Chicago Fire episode, she expressed concern about whether or not the relationship could work given that she missed so many of her friends back home, but the end of the story gave us a little bit of hope. She’s already been in eight different Chicago Fire episodes, so there is some sort of foundation there — that gives us hope that we could have a chance to see something more from her moving into the next season. Her presence in the hospital would give the two shows another substantial link, and allow both Sullivan and Taylor Kinney to pop up on the other show, potentially boosting the ratings for both in the process.

In general, Chicago Med at the moment has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to potential regulars, since in addition to Sullivan, they also have another great character in Dr. Latham from this season. We know that there are only so many people who can be in the cast, but we could make a case for adding another person or two here without being too overwhelming.

We suppose that it’s possible something happens between now and the end of this season that negates the possibility for Anna, such as her deciding that she doesn’t want to be in Chicago anymore. For now, though, we continue to have some hope.
