The Flash season 3: What’s coming for WestAllen after musical moment?

Mrs. Carter: Will the momentum for WestAllen remain on The Flash season 3 for a significant period of time?

Tonight, the musical crossover ended with something that we really didn’t see coming, but something that also felt perfect in just about every way: A musical proposal for Barry and Iris. Going through what they went through in “Duet” was a way to see just how much the two cared about each other, and it brought them together after a time where Barry realized that he made a huge mistake by using a proposal in order to try to change the timeline. This time, he did it out of pure love, and luckily Iris ended up saying yes as a response to it.

Unfortunately, don’t expect this moment to ensure that Barry and Iris are going to be running down the aisle at rapid speed anytime soon. As Candice Patton revealed in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the show understandably is going to be putting most of its focus moving forward on some other things:

“We’re not going to see wedding bells anytime soon, or wedding planning, because the most imminent situation is Iris’ impending death … So that’s what we’ll be focusing on for the rest of the season, is making sure that prophecy does not come true.”

This is the most logical way for the show to resolve this situation, mostly because of the fact that Barry and Iris’ wedding isn’t something that has to be considered a priority at the moment. When you have someone like Savitar bearing down on you, you do have to prioritize. Our feeling is that if we were Barry and Iris, we’d plan for a December wedding — it’s something you can promote heavily, and things won’t be so crazy when it comes to the Big Bad that they won’t have time to pull it off.

Granted, we’ll just be happy if there is some sort of happy ceremony for the two parties at all. Just remember for a minute here that long-term relationships and even engagements haven’t worked out all that well on some of the other CW superhero shows to date, and we definitely don’t want to see these two have an unhappy end when they’ve been through.
