For a little while, we thought that Sunday would come and go without any new Outlander stories to report; then, we got a new photo of Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan! It may be one of the smaller updates we’ve conjured up in our near-daily coverage of the show, but there is a certain degree of significance to this.
The image below was first posted on the Instagram account for Balfe, and it features both her and Sam alongside executive producer at a post-production meeting. This is one of the first photos that either she or Sam has posted on social media since their arrival in the country, and it is also a reminder of all of the work that they are already doing! They’ve done a read-through now of the season, they’ve taken meetings, and there’s likely so much more than that. Remember for a moment here that keeping things as much of a secret as possible is still a priority for everyone involved. There are some things that can’t quite be shared! Plus, it is work; sometimes it’s a little hard to be snapping photos of every little thing.
For the next few months, filming will continue, and during that time, we also do imagine that there are going to be a few more significant milestones along the way. There are a few different things that we’ve written about over the past few days…
1. Here’s a little bit of casting news regarding one actor who is making the trip down.
2. Here is a little more discussion about the read-through day that we mentioned previously.
3. Finally, here is our post about Sam’s arrival to Africa in the first place.
Consider these two be a few stories to be a starting-off point to much of the remainder of our South Africa coverage. It’s going to be a long wait, but hasn’t it been already a long wait? There’s not that much of a difference there. We’re all in this together, and we’ll continue to have as many updates as we can.
Remember, season 3 will premiere come this September on Starz. Hopefully, one of these aforementioned updates coming up soon will be in the form of a season 3 teaser.
As always, we welcome some more of your thoughts on this subject in the comments below! (Photo: Starz.)
