Chicago Justice episode 5 spoilers: Stone’s defiance could cost him his job

Chicago Justice episode 5 preview -

Leading up to Chicago Justice episode 5, we’ve progressively seen less and less within the world of crossovers. There is an appearance from Oliver Platt tonight, so from that vantage point you know that at the very least, there is a small element of the One Chicago world at play.

As we look forward now, it appears as though episode 5 may be the most truly-independent episode of the show to date, as the characters within this world are going to have to carry the day themselves. Luckily, we do think that we’ve got an interesting story in “Friendly Fire,” mostly because you have three people who are all technically on the same side of things who are nonetheless not all that interested in being on the same page. You’ve got Mark Jefferies in one corner, Peter Stone in the other, and then the Department of Justice in the third. They may have agendas that bleed over at various times, but on a few other occasions, they are going to clash and basically cause each other all sorts of chaos. The only thing that we can say to that, at least for now, is to be prepared.

Synopsis – “When a man is found stabbed to death in his home, Nagel (Joelle Carter) and Antonio (Jon Seda) discover he was an ex-Navy SEAL who was writing a book that exposed the truth about a top-secret mission. Stone (Philip Winchester) becomes convinced that the SEAL was killed to suppress the real story of what actually happened on the failed mission. But the US Department of Justice steps in and insists that this strong evidence of motive is classified, thereby jeopardizing Stone’s case. When Stone defies Jefferies (Carl Weathers) and uses the secret evidence, will it cost him his job?”

Promo – In watching this, it absolutely feels clear that the tension is palpable — we’re going to see Stone go so far to get the verdict he desires that he puts his life on the line. It shows the sort of man that he is, but sometimes being a rule-breaker doesn’t get you ahead. There is a reason why Jefferies tells him not to use the videotape that he finds as evidence; it could have enormous consequences.
