The Bachelorette: Rachel Lindsay, Nick Viall reunite, she talks ideal guy

Rachel Linday - Nick Viall

At the end of tonight’s The Bachelor: The Women Tell All special, Rachel Lindsay came out in order to offer up some of her first words since being named the star of the next season of The Bachelorette. She’s the first black Bachelor or Bachelorette lead, and that is a fact that she acknowledged during the show. Yet, at the same time she made it clear that she is proud to have the title, and is excited for what is coming up next.

Given that Rachel does have a great sense of humor, what made this moment rather funny and fantastic was that right in the middle of this serious conversation about race and her status on the show, she saw someone dressed as a shark (like Alexis) in the audience and immediately started to crack up. She knows that it’s important, but she also doesn’t want to be defined simply because of her ethnicity. It’s more about who she is as a person and what she is looking for. She met up with Nick Viall once more, and they traded pleasantries.

As for what sort of guys she’s interested in dating, she also made it clear that this is not something that she had a hard-and-fast rule on. She’s ready for whatever comes her way:

“I don’t necessarily have a type. I love to laugh … I want somebody who is secure and confident and knows exactly what he wants.”

For those wondering, Rachel’s season is going to begin filming not too long at all after The Bachelor finale next week. This is the funny thing about the way that the show’s production cycle works — it’s pretty rapid-fire at this point! You do one show, and then you transition quickly into the other and head over to the mansion. Rachel had a long break between the end of her season filming and now, and that is how she’s managed to get over Nick and prepare herself for what’s coming up. It probably also helped that she was reportedly offered the gig several weeks ago. She had far more time than the average Bachelorette star to prepare, thanks in part to both her popularity and also the need to have a more diverse cast.

If you missed it, we did discuss earlier everything else that took place during The Women Tell All. Head over here to read our full review.
