Will The X-Files season 11 renewal come before May upfronts?
Specifically, if you think about it’s probably hard to fine many people who aren’t eager over the idea. Just remember for a minute or two here that both Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny have both expressed a willingness in coming back, and Fox certainly loved the ratings. It fared far better than the recent 24: Legacy has, and with the jury still out on Prison Break for later this year, the network really has to take advantage of whatever opportunities that it can to bring viewers to the network.
So why the holdup now? It’s really a combination of three different things.
1. Schedules – You obviously have to figure out the right time in which to film it, let alone the right time for Chris Carter / the writing team to work on it. This is stuff that isn’t figured out in a day, especially since David and Gillian have other projects that they’re working through on a near-regular basis.
2. Episode Count – Let’s make it clear that it was great to even have a season 10, something that previously didn’t seem possible. Yet, it was also really short. Duchovny has expressed an interest in more, so this may be about hammering out the finer details there. For us, we would argue that it be somewhere between eight and ten, max. You don’t want to do so many that you start to burn people out.
3. Money – Hey, it’s a business. You have to figure out a way that everyone gets paid and the budget is set right.
One other hidden factor here could be urgency, mostly because of the fact that there isn’t one. Fox’s upfronts are not until May, and with that, maybe they don’t feel the need to be too pressing on making this happen in the next month or so. Yet, you do want to act before you get too close to May; then, time starts ticking away and next thing you know, we’re left wondering if we will get another season in the 2017-18 season at all like so many people hoped.
Personally, we think that we’ll hear about another season by the end of May. Do you? Share some of your thoughts in the comments! (Photo: Fox.)

Can we stop pretending Carter’s schedule has anything to do with any holdup? Neither is Duchovny’s for that matter.
Anderson is the one with the busy schedule. That’s the hold up and after the ridiculous way Fox TV offered her half the amount Duchovny was getting for the revival, I say more power to her.
Fox better beg, borrow and steal to get her on board. After all, there’s an opening for Dr. Who and that’s a lot closer to her home.
