‘Criminal Minds’ season 12, episode 15 preview: The latest on Spencer Reid in ‘Alpha Male’

Criminal Minds -When you look back at some of our other previews for “Criminal Minds” over the years, then you are probably very accustomed at the moment to the show not exactly giving you a whole lot of advance information in terms of what is befalling their characters. That still is the case now, but it’s changed ever so slightly when it comes to how much they are highlighting one Spencer Reid. Specifically, they are giving him a moment or two in the spotlight in some of their synopses, and that is making it all the clearer that the writers are not going to be shying away from the narrative that they first injected in “Surface Tension” earlier this season. They really are going for a lengthy arc focused on this character, which is something that they have not really introduced with many other members of the team as of late.

The next new installment now is going to be airing on CBS in one week’s time, and the title for that is “Alpha Male.” Want to get a few more teasers for what to expect? Then you just have to look below…

Synopsis – “The BAU investigates when several young men and women are victims of disfiguring acid attacks. Also, Dr. Reid begins to settle into his new surroundings.”

As for what Reid’s “surroundings” are, you’ll get a good sense of that tonight! Beyond that, the synopsis reminds us further that the show is (smartly) not doing anything where time suddenly stops as a result of everything going on with Reid. There are still UnSubs that the BAU will have to take on, and these cases will be integral in keeping some of the tone of the series alive. We like that the show is trying something different with a larger, more-serialized narrative, but it also makes some sense that they not stray too far from some of their established roots, either.
