Charlie Hunnam plans to watch ‘Sons of Anarchy’ spin-off ‘Mayans MC’

We’ve been hearing a good bit of casting news as of late regarding the upcoming “Sons of Anarchy” spin-off “Mayans MC,” and we’re hearing now that one person who was very much entrenched within the show’s universe has all of the plans in the world to watch.

Speaking in a new Entertainment Weekly interview via Facebook Live to promote his upcoming movie King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Charlie Hunnam made it very clear that his affection with both the source material and the show’s creator Kurt Sutter has him very keen to watch, even if he will not be directly involved in the project in any way:

“I really think that, honestly, anything that Kurt [Sutter] is doing I’m excited about, ’cause I think he’s a phenomenal writer and has such a unique voice and vision … I obviously got to know very, very well the world of California motorcycle clubs and I just think it’s a very rich, vital, exciting world. I think that the idea is that they’re going to focus on Mayans, so it’s exciting. I’ll certainly be tuning in.”

Hunnam’s Jax Teller was killed off in the closing minutes of the “Sons of Anarchy” series finale, and given that this show doesn’t appear to be a prequel to the original in any way, there doesn’t seem to be any reason to bring him back unless you’re either becoming the latest spin-off to “The Walking Dead” or turning the show into a ghost story. Jax’s story had a defined beginning, middle, and an end, and it’s time for someone else to step up to the lead role. Based on the early information that we’ve heard, that will be prospect EZ Reyes. This character has not been cast yet, but we brought you earlier today some information regarding the first two names officially announced. (There are clearly many more names to come.)

Are you planning to watch the new series, and what are some of your expectations for it? Share below, and rest assured that we’re going to be sharing some additional scoop on “Mayans MC” over the coming days.
