‘Supergirl’ season 2: Will Sanvers or Karamel go the distance?
Mrs. Carter: What does the romantic future hold on “Supergirl” this season?
Monday night’s new episode of the show was arguably the most romantic one that we’ve seen over the course of the entire series. After all, just think of all of the different pairings that we’ve had a chance to see play out now! Tonight brought you Kara and Mon-El finally admitting to feelings for each other and acting on it, while Maggie and Alex had a romantic Valentine’s Day celebration after at first balking at the idea.
Meanwhile, we even had a fun (albeit completely random) story featuring Winn and someone new he met at a bar. This was a nice reminder that he really is a rather good guy, though we’re still not sure how far this relationship will last given the fact that we’ve only just met her. (You also have J’onn J’onzz and M’gann out there somewhere, even though it’s not clear when you’re going to get a chance to see Miss Martian on the show in the future.)
So of all of these couples, who is the most built to last? The easy answer here is Sanvers a.k.a. Maggie and Alex, mostly because their relationship is the most stable and normal right now. They’ve been together for a while, they’re supportive of each other, and even when they have issues, they work their way through them. We saw that tonight, and we’re seeing a domestic side to their relationship that we haven’t quite seen anywhere else just yet.
As for everyone else, there is some potential to be had with the relationship with Mon-El and Kara, which is being called Karamel by most online — the big thing to worry about there is mostly that his ego gets in the way sometimes, and they’ve only just got to the point now where they’ve done more than admit to having feelings. There’s also still the specter of a big secret coming their way, and that is the mysterious aliens hunting Mon-El down, who we’ll likely meet sooner rather than later.
The other relationships on the show beyond these two are either a little under-edited, or it’s a little too early to tell how they’ll fare.
