‘Chicago Fire’ season 5, episode 14 preview: A house divided; Severide’s struggle
Tonight, “Chicago Fire” is going to feature the beginning of a battle between Chief Boden and Chief Anderson, and there could be some sweeping ramifications based on what we know about “Purgatory,” the new episode of the show that is airing in one week’s time. This is one that could feature Firehouse 51 all split up, and struggling to find a way to get them back to each other.
How much of this is personally motivated? That is certainly one of the questions that we have entering this episode, and the results of this division could be catastrophic. Just remember for a good minute or two here that we’re talking about pulling people apart who have shown time and time again that they are much stronger together.
Synopsis – “After exercising his disdain and authority over Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker), Chief Anderson (guest star Michael Hanrahan) reassigns members of 51 to various houses around town, citing the need for improvement. The ramifications are felt by the crew, who are left to make the best of their respective situations in their new surroundings. Boden fights to repair the situation, but it just might be out of his control. Elsewhere, Severide (Taylor Kinney) toils over an important decision.”
For those of you who are Severide fans, his story here stems from the offer that was presented to him recently, and this could be one that takes him a little bit of time to figure out. On a meta level, you’re also thinking about a move that could give the character success and happiness, but one that would also take him away from the rest of the cast. It’s hard to root for anything that could mean less screen time for him.
Promo – This is all about the reassignments. What is Boden going to do in order to get everyone back together?
