‘Supernatural’ season 12, episode 12 preview: Mary’s move (and its various consequences)

Here is a valuable lesson to any characters on “Supernatural” — if you are looking to recruit the Winchesters to take part in your mission, you probably want to make sure that you tell them ALL of the information in advance. After all, they’re the sort who are probably going to be rather upset in the event that you don’t come through with it, and then they find out about it after the fact.

When you get the British Men of Letters involved in this, you have to figure that this is going to escalate to yet another level. This brings us to next week’s new episode “Stuck in the Middle (With You),” which is probably going to be very entertaining to us — but also at the same time an eyesore to the brothers given what they’re going to be up against.

Synopsis – “Mary (guest star Samantha Smith) asks Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Castiel (Misha Collins) for help on a case she’s working but neglects to mention the British Men of Letters are involved. When Mary is double crossed, everything is revealed.”

For those of you who enjoy the British Men of Letters story, this is going to be a great chance to dive into their history and mythology. For everyone else … it’s only one episode. Personally, we find this to be one of the more polarizing parts of the entire season. There are some aspects of it that we like (such as having Mary around), but we haven’t completely found the Men of Letters all that captivating in this iteration. Then again, to be fair “Supernatural” is one of those shows where we find the magic to be more in the individual Monster of the Week plots more so than the larger mythology.
