‘Star’ episode 8 preview: Missy Elliott to guest star

Star -

For those of you wanting to see “Star” somehow show off even more musical credibility, know this: You’re going to get both Missy Elliott and Tyrese Gibson in the span of a single episode! Consider this another fine example of the Lee Daniels magic, as the prolific showrunner possesses this unique ability to be able to ensure that some high-profile guest stars appear on his shows.

As for how we’re going to see these two appear, Gibson is just going to be making another appearance as Pastor Harris. Meanwhile, Elliott is going to be stopping by as a very big-name reporter; specifically, she is the sort person who you would want to have around if you’re someone like Star. (Suffice it to say, she’ll be rather thrilled to see her.)

Synopsis – “During a neighborhood block party fundraiser, Hunter surprises Star by inviting superstar recording artist/producer Pumpkin (guest star Missy Elliott) to the event. Alexandra reevaluates her dreams of stardom when her mother, Rose Spencer (guest star Naomi Campbell), shows up with an irresistible proposal. Meanwhile, Jahil explores a new opportunity and Cotton agrees to meet with Pastor Harris (guest star Tyrese Gibson), hoping to mend her relationship with her mother.”

This episode in some ways seems to be about making things right, while at the same time also trying to see characters move forward and grasp control of what their future could be. At this point, every episode is a stepping stone, and we could eventually see some of these characters closer to stardom. The downside here is that at some point during the journey, there are probably a few feelings and people who are going to be hurt.

Promo – You’re going to get to see a fundraiser, bail, and a variety of other events over the course of the episode as some characters start to do their best to turn their lives around. We’ll just have to wait and see precisely how successful they are.
