‘Saturday Night Live’: Expectations for Kristen Stewart – Alessia Cara show
There is a new episode of “Saturday Night Live” airing in just a matter of hours, and this one certainly looks to be all sorts of interesting. How else would you describe a show that offers you up the chance to see Kristen Stewart as host for the first time? She’s a bit of an enigmatic host to us given that she’s been relatively quiet away from her work the past several years, and we don’t know enough of her comedy background to know what sort of characters that she’d want to play.
If we had it our way, Kristen could be similar to someone like a Chris Hemsworth: A movie star who comes in and is simply game for almost anything, even if they embarrass themselves in the process. So long as you throw caution to the wind, odds are you’ll find some ways to entertain. You don’t want to force anything, though — a great example of someone who probably tried too hard to be the wacky character in almost every sketch they were a part of was Russell Crowe, and his show is widely regarding as the worst non-Donald Trump show of the past several seasons.
As for Cara, based on everything we’ve seen, we do think that she’ll put on a great performance. She also does some impressions, so there’s potential for her to turn up in a sketch if the writers really want to go in that direction during the episode tonight.
The one thing that we can say to probably NOT expect tonight is an appearance from Alec Baldwin. Since he’s going to be hosting the show in one week’s time, we figure that “SNL” is going to wait to mine most of their great material with the President until we get around to that show. (Granted, it certainly wouldn’t bother us if Baldwin did turn up tonight to turn out some more Trump commentary — there’ll probably be enough headlines by next week’s show to do something new.)
