‘Criminal Minds’ season 12: The official scoop on key ‘Spencer’ episode

Spencer -It’s been many weeks now since the “Criminal Minds” faithful first had a chance to learn that there would be an upcoming season 12 episode entitled “Spencer.” Now, we’re quite pleased to be offering up a few more details regarding what is coming up.

CBS released the official synopsis for the episode a little bit earlier in the week — it may be brief, but we do think that it does a good job giving you a little more insight into specifically what sort of danger (likely Spencer) is going to be in:

“When a BAU member gets in trouble in Mexico, the team enlists the services of the International Response Team for their help.”

As previously reported, there is a “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders” crossover in the episode, as both Alana De La Garza and Daniel Henney are going to be appearing as their characters from that show. Hopefully, this is enough of “Beyond Borders” to tide you over, given that it still remains relatively unclear as to when that show is going to be coming on the air with new episodes. (It’s not going to be in early March as it was first suggested.)

In getting back to the flagship show, the title alone is a dead giveaway that Spencer is going to be in danger south of the border; the larger question is going to be precisely what he was doing there. This was something that was not necessarily made clear over the past episode, largely because of the fact that we were more focused on watching Spencer with his mother Diana, who he decided to bring home after everything that she went through when it comes to the Alzheimer’s trial. We imagine that Spencer had to be down there for some sort of big job, given that it’s hard to see him willingly that far away from his mother otherwise.
