‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Kristen Stewart, Beck Bennett have a song in their hearts
This weekend, “Saturday Night Live” will be coming back after a week off the air, and it will be doing so with one of the most-surprising first-time hosts out there in Kristen Stewart. We don’t mean this in the sense that it is surprising that she is hosting the show; it’s more that we don’t know how this didn’t happen sooner. Maybe it never worked out for her schedule, or maybe there just wasn’t the interest there for both parties before now.
Either way, the actress is going to be on the show this weekend, and in the first preview for it below, you can see her and cast member Beck Bennett engaging in a little bit of singing … well, it’s mostly Beck who does the singing. She gets out his first name and that’s about it.
One of the things that is going to be interesting about this episode in particular is that Stewart has this image (at least for people who casually follow her career) as being very cool and edgy; maybe this show will play into that, or maybe she’ll circumvent that and find a way to be exceptionally goofy and surprising. We know that for us, it’d be the most fun to see her really going for it and playing some wacky / unexpected characters. Obviously, the talent is there; this is just one of those shows where we don’t quite know exactly what to expect, mostly because we don’t know Stewart’s point of view all that well.
Aside from her, we do wonder if we’ll get another appearance from Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump in the wake of all of his executive orders. We know that the controversial President’s been a favorite of the cast in terms as a lightning rod for most of the season, and we don’t see that changing now that he is in office. We expected to see Baldwin after the Inauguration, but maybe there was a feeling that emotions were too heightened.
