‘Supergirl’ season 2, episode 9 preview: Kara, Mon-El, and a Red Sun

Supergirl -

After a lengthy hiatus, “Supergirl” returns to The CW on Monday night with an episode titled “Supergirl Lives” — which sounds fun, but is also a little strange given the fact that there wasn’t really a cliffhanger where her life was in jeopardy.

Anyhow, in the wake of everything with Cyborg Superman and Cadmus in the first half of the season, the winter premiere may be taking a slightly different approach. This story will begin with Kara Danvers (as opposed to her super alter-ego) chasing a lead from Snapper Carr regarding a missing girl named Izzy. In the process of looking for her, she finds herself stuck in a portal, which takes her to the alien world that you see in the sneak peek below. Mon-El follows her in, but as they soon realize, it’s hardly as though he is able to be much help.

You see, in this world, there’s a red sun — which renders their powers useless. They are trapped on a different planet without the ability to use any of their powers at all. Kara may as well be dressed as someone going to Comic-Con at this point. They’re going to have to rely on their wits and their knowledge of alien life to make it back home and since they are both smart people, we feel confident that they will figure something out. In retrospect, maybe the title is a referenced to how surprised everyone will be when she finds a way to make it home in one piece.

Just in case you’ve got a hankering for some other great scoop on this episode, know that this episode will be featuring the return of Roulette after her debut appearance earlier this season. She does have quite a knack for running crime rings. Also, Alex is going to struggle in the wake of her sister’s disappearance, which is going to cause her to think that maybe she’s spending too much time with Maggie. Remember that Alex is used to having one goal and one goal only: Protecting Kara. It’s going to take her some time to realize that it’s not her fault if something bad happens.

Tell us what you think about this preview below, including how you think Kara and Mon-El are going to get out of this situation alive. Meanwhile, be sure to check out some early details here from the upcoming “Supergirl” – “The Flash” crossover. (Photo: The CW.)
