‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13, episode 10 preview: Arizona, Jo take on a challenging new patient

Prison -

After both a hiatus and a delay brought on by a “20/20” Inauguration special, Thursday night marks your first opportunity in 2017 to see a new episode of “Grey’s Anatomy.” Based on what we’re seeing below, all early indications are that this episode is going to be especially challenging for some of these characters. That being said, “Grey’s Anatomy” likes to make pretty much all of their episodes challenge for their characters – it’s what we love about this show.

In the sneak peek below, you can see two of our characters in Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) and Jo (Camilla Luddington) take on a particularly difficult patient in an unexpected location: A prison. The photo above also features Bailey (Chandra Wilson), but she is not as prominently featured in the clip. The aforementioned characters are trying to do their best to look after a pregnant prisoner, but they realize rather quickly that caring for her is not going to prove to be an easy thing to do.

First off, the prisoner does not seem altogether pleased with Arizona’s sunny disposition — then, she freaks out when Arizona tries to put her hands on her stomach. The reaction here shows further the differences between being in prison and being at a hospital, since this sort of care is routine over at the Grey Sloan. Culture clash is likely going to be one of the larger themes for this episode, and it feels fair to assume that this is not going to be the end of it, either. There could very well be many other problems that are encountered over the course of the hour as the doctors do their best to help a patient under difficult circumstances.

What’s just about as interesting about this sneak peek is what is not mentioned during it: Specifically, the fate of Alex Karev. Hopefully, at some point during the winter premiere, there will be more of a sense as to if he took the plea deal or not. If he opted against it, he could be forced to either attend trial or hope that DeLuca has a change of heart.

Do you think that Arizona and Jo are going to be able to connect with this patient by the end of this? Share in the comments, and be sure to head over here in the event you want some further updates right now when it comes to “Grey’s Anatomy.” (Photo: ABC.)
