Should ‘Poldark’ be renewed for season 4 before season 3 even premieres?

Let’s start with the sad news when it comes to the BBC’s “Poldark“: There is still no news in terms of when BBC One will air the upcoming third season. It’s fair to assume that it will be this year, but beyond that we’re left to wait on pins and needles for that. Rest assured that as soon as we know, we’ll pass that information along.

What we’d love to propose / put out into the universe with this article today is that the network make a kind gesture to the fans and recommission the series early for a fourth batch of episodes. Why do this? Well, let’s just say that there are a bevy of reasons.

1. There’s a precedent for it already – Before season 2 aired in the late summer of 2016, the BBC officially renewed the show for season 3. If they’ve done it before, then they can surely do so again.

2. It shows confidence to viewers – There’s nothing more nerve-wrecking for a viewer than having to watch one of their favorite shows not knowing if it will come back for another season. The last thing that you want when working on the show is having some external factor potentially taking some of your viewers out of what’s actually happening onscreen. Obviously, it’s not something that producers or actors have any control over, so often they are in the same position as viewers are in this regard.

3. It gives the creators more time to create – The more time that you give people behind the scenes to do their magic, the better. It allows you the foresight to plan ahead, and get excited about some of the stories from the book series that are coming up. While the show is not necessarily doing a season of the show for every book, there is still a vast library of material out there.

Given the massive success of the show both in the UK and around the globe, we’re confident that it is going to be renewed for more episodes. At this point, it’s all a matter of timing — and personally, we think that a renewal would give all of us something to celebrate while we wait through the present hiatus.
