‘Quantico’ season 2 will eliminate dual timelines, but when?
During the early days of the show, it made a little bit of sense to do this device since giving us two separate stories kept us from having to spend all of our time watching Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra) in training. Now, she’s already trained, so there have been some moments of her at the Farm where we’ve certainly wondered what the point of it all is.
Executive producer Josh Safran confirmed the news of the change to TVLine, explaining that moving forward to the future timeline only starting in March was a choice that the writers made before the start of the season:
“When we broke Season 2, we knew we were going to go to to one timeline, because it’s about the [terrorist] event, and then it’s about what happens after the event. And you can’t flashback to the Farm after the crisis is over … It was a response from last year. It was the idea that 22 [episodes] couldn’t sustain it.”
Jumping to this point is going to make the story a little bit more seamless, and also offer us a little bit of a chance to see the pacing of the show build up towards something singular. It’s an exciting concept, but you have to hope that it’s not a little too little, too late for a show that’s been struggling in the ratings for a little while now.
