‘Major Crimes’ season 5: The hype is real in new promo (video)
Given that the last new episodes of “Major Crimes” aired in the summer, it’s been a long wait to get to see new episodes of the show — and there’s still a little ways to go. The next batch of episodes airs on Wednesday, February 22 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, and that’s a good month and a half away.
Does a new promo help to ease the wait? We like to think so, especially one that ends with Rusty calling his mom a “badass.” It’s an intense little tease at the show, and while there are no specific plot points given away, this serves as a nice microcosm for what we enjoy about this show: Intense, twisted stories that show off some of the best of what the LAPD has to offer.
Knowing “Major Crimes” as we do, we’d assume that many of the major characters are going to have some sort of spotlight before the season comes to a close; for Sharon Raydor in particular, we know that a possible promotion is on deck, though nothing is assured.
Before we get to many of these stories, though, there is a separate matter that needs to be attended to in Andy Flynn’s health. The character suffered at the end of the first half of the season an event that looked very much like a heart attack, and we’ve gotta make sure he is okay. The precise nature of this cliffhanger is probably one of the reasons why this hiatus feels particularly long … with the fact that the show hasn’t been renewed for a sixth season yet adding to the stress. Hopefully, we’ll get some news on that subject soon! For now, we’ll just have to enjoy the promo for what it is, and that’s vintage “Major Crimes.”

The new promo is awesome, but is making me miss the show even more. Nothing to do with Andy’s heart attack, cuz all you have to do is go to Tony’s social media accounts to know he is fine, 5 months is too long to be going without this awesome show.

I would’ve been shocked if Andy was gone from the show, but even if he makes it through, there are some interesting ways to have it impact the story.

We know that James has hinted that Shandy gets engaged and how does it impact the work environment, particularly in regards to Sharon. TNT has basically confirmed that with their press release on the back 5. Supposedly, we get to hear what is in the letter from November, 2015 FINALLY! I am just going to be really irked if we don’t get to see the Shandy proposal. I think James knows that Shandy fans would absolutely revolt.
To be honest, I am more concerned regarding the talk of Provenza’s retirement popping up again. I was reminded of the tweet Patrick Munn had sent out several months ago that fans might not like the changes coming to MC to bring it more into line with TNT’s new “brand” and am really hoping that isn’t what that was about. Could TNT really be that stupid to take GW off the show? He is absolutely a fan favorite, not to mention #proflynnza. I can’t see them really being that ignorant and out of touch. In my opinion, that would do more longterm damage to MC fans expanding into other TNT shows than the day move AGAIN!
