‘Outlander’ season 3: Odds and ends on filming, South Africa, and more

Outlander -

We recently commended many of the folks associated with “Outlander” for finding ways to keep the community involved over the course of the holidays, and today, said commending continues courtesy of executive producer / writer Matthew B. Roberts, who took some time out to answer questions on social media and keep the engagement around the show rolling.

There were a few interesting topics covered in the session (see some select tweets below), but one of the best topics that he took on was the fact that he, much like everyone else on the show, doesn’t have much in the way of advance knowledge in terms of when it is going to premiere. Current information out there suggests the fall (it was originally thought to be spring), and that information comes courtesy of a recent release put out there by Starz. Outlander season 3 will be here eventually, so you just have to prepare for it now.

Roberts also commented on the production move to South Africa (which is set to double for Jamaica at times in terms of the story), how excited we should be for the upcoming episodes, his role in creating some of the very-cool title cards for the show, and also precisely how many episodes he was involved with in terms of the writing process. Outlander – South Africa filming will take place for many months, beginning in March.

Overall, there are many answers in here that you may know already if you’ve been devoted through the Droughtlander; if you’ve missed a few things here and there, these teases may be new and certainly all the more welcome. Hopefully as filming continues, we will get a further sense of what the Outlander South Africa scenes look like. Whenever it does premiere, we’re sure that Starz is going to want to unleash an epic promotional campaign on the world. After all, this is something they’ve shown a willingness to do on so many different occasions before whether it be via trailers, photos, or other forms of social engagement.

One story that you can take out before you leave is a survey of what the fall competition could be for Outlander season 3, just to get a better sense as to what it’s going to be up against … not that we really think you’d consider watching something else.
