‘Legends of Tomorrow’ season 2, episode 9 video: The new Rip Hunter and the Legion of Doom

LegendsWhile they may not have had much of a name through “Legends of Tomorrow” season 2 so far, the Legion of Doom is definitely now a thing. They’re going to be around for quite some time to come for the remainder of this season, and they’ve also now got on their side someone who could be viewed as a major asset to them in Rip Hunter … well, sort of.

At the end of the winter finale, you saw the “new” version of Rip, and he seems to be very much different. He seemed to be the grunge filmmaker type in a different era, which was very entertaining in some ways because it seems to be the complete opposite of who he was before. Is this even the same character at this point? It’s hard to say, but the idea of playing someone incredibly different had to be fun for Arthur Darvill, who was more of the straight-laced-hero-with-a-hard-past type through much of the first season.

In his absence, we’ve seen the team reassemble, and the great thing about that is that we’ve got Sara Lance now doing a wonderful job running point as the leader of the team. Hilariously, she’s the person seemingly the most averse to the whole Legion of Doom name, which we do understand … even if we love it.

At this point in the show, we’ve learned not to have too many specific expectations for what could be coming up next; we’re just for the most part satisfied that this is a season that to date is far more entertaining than season 1, and we’ve got an arc that we’re a little more invested in than the whole situation with Hawkgirl and Vandal Savage — even if we don’t quite know where we’re going at the moment.
