Disney Parks Magical Christmas Celebration 2016: Derek, Julianne Hough hosting; Sofia Carson, Mariah Carey appearing
There aren’t too many television programs out there that we would identify as necessarily traditional for December 25, mostly because this is probably the day more so than any other where the majority of people just get off television and enjoy some time with one another as normal people.
However, there is one special that may be worth tuning on in the morning if you want something on TV while some members of the family are making the holiday meal: The “Disney Parks Magical Christmas Celebration,” a chance in which to see a wide array of different performers take the stage in order to help ring in the holiday in the finest fashion possible. ABC’s managed to assemble a pretty eclectic group this time around, given that you’ve got everyone from Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood to Kelly Clarkson to Sofia Carson. This special, which starts at 10:00 a.m., will feature some of the best that Disney Parks has to offer. For a few more details, here’s what the network had to say in a press release:
“This Christmas, Disney Parks celebrates the joy of the holiday season as hosts Julianne and Derek Hough take viewers on a magical ride down Main Street and beyond. The Christmas Day celebration will be bigger and brighter than ever before, bringing together the beloved Christmas day parade, magical musical performances, surprise celebrity guests and heartwarming family stories to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year.”
It certainly makes some sense for ABC to have Julianne (pictured above) and Derek host, given that they are both a part of “Dancing with the Stars” and certainly have their own background in singing, dancing, and everything in between. We also feel like they’ll be able to show off a lot of holiday spirit, which is especially important given that this event probably taped many weeks ago.
