‘The X Factor’ UK: Honey G officially releases ‘The Honey G Show’ music video

Is today officially the day that music died? We cannot say that for certain, but it is at the very least the day that Honey G, once considered a joke act on “The X Factor” by many, is the second person this season beyond winner Matt Terry, to have a music video.

We will give Honey credit for this: It’s reasonably catchy, and while it already feels old after a single listen, at least a lot of people are going to give it that. The folks over at Syco are smart, and they likely realize that there is a way to jump on the Honey G train and make a lot of money over a relatively short period of time. Her fame will fade quickly, so it was imperative that they put out a music video for this song sooner rather than later.

Our biggest note of frustration when it comes to this whole Honey G experiment altogether is how her music says almost nothing about her as a person or who she stands for. It is pure fluff. The reason this is such a bummer is that you can often look elsewhere at so many other people within the industry and see so many great examples of people who really are doing something to try to be game-changers and people who have a message that they want to get across. For Honey, it’s mostly about getting people to repeat her name.

Since its release, this video certainly has received a wide array of views — even if it also has as many dislikes as it does likes. Whoever said that people were feeling generous just because we were so close to the holidays?
