‘Girl Meets World’ season 3: Listing sparks further renewal, cancellation gossip

As of this time, we should note that the fate of “Girl Meets World” beyond this season still remains officially unclear. It hasn’t been renewed, but at the same time, it also hasn’t been canceled.

With that being said, the Canadian broadcaster for the show in Disney Channel Canada certainly got some wheels turning when they listed the upcoming season finale airing next month as the series finale. (You can see proof of this over at BMWSequel.com.)

While this is certainly a cause for some significant alarm among some out there, one thing that we would say to caution some people particularly worried is that the network quickly removed it. While it’s possible in theory that they accidentally leaked something that they weren’t suppose to, it’s more likely that this was just an honest mistake from someone either misinformed or using the wrong word. After all, in Britain they refer to a season as a “series,” so it is easy to get the two confirmed. (We lived in Canada for several years, and there were a few occasions where we heard the two words mixed up.)

Ultimately, though, the thing to remember more so than anything is that the American version of the Disney Channel is the one that actually controls the show and not the one in Canada. Therefore, don’t put too much stock in this one way or another. It’s certainly possible that this is the series finale, and the network’s waiting to announce this after the holidays as to not bum anyone out. Obviously, we want to see it continue, but simultaneously we understand that this was three seasons of a show we never imagined that we would be getting in a million years. The fact that “Boy Meets World” got to continue on in the 2010’s in some shape or form is crazy and mind-blowing.
