‘Saturday Night Live’ video: John Cena makes a bold proclamation

SNL -We never thought that there would be this sort of great kinship between “Saturday Night Live” and the wrestling world, but at the same time, there is something about this collaboration that really works! Dwayne Johnson remains one of our favorite hosts in the history of the program, and it is with that in mind that we’re excited to see what John Cena offers this coming weekend.

The promo below doesn’t necessarily give a whole lot away; as a matter of fact, it feels more like a wrestling entrance than anything that you tend to see on the show. Cena comes in, and almost immediately makes a bold proclamation after this that he is going to destroy everyone on the show, with the exception of Leslie Jones. Apparently, he doesn’t want anything to do with her — that’s a funny joke, but it’s also the same sort of humor we expect around Leslie since it’s the same sort of stuff that we’ve seen the show execute so many times over.

Overall, our biggest fear going into this episode is by and large the sole fact that most of the show will be Cena playing the big, tough-guy character or something that is familiar to him. It’s with that in mind that we hope he really challenges himself and goes for silly, goofy comedy. He’s used to performing in a live environment, so at the very least we don’t think that he is going to have a hard time dealing with that part of the environment. Perhaps the funniest thing could come via a mere size standpoint: Cena is 6’1”, and more importantly, the guy is built like a tank. There is nobody else in the cast who fits that profile at all.

Stay tuned; we’re going to be back with more from this episode over the weekend!
