‘Secrets and Lies’ season 2 finale: Juliette Lewis unsure of season 3 future
Well, the “Secrets and Lies” finale certainly was a little bit eventful, wasn’t it? When you think about, almost everyone around Eric Warner was guilty of something. Amanda was responsible for killing Kate, there was a second family in his father’s life, and there was a bit of extortion going on to top all of this off.
It’s hard to really figure out precisely where to go after all of the drama we saw in this episode, which included plenty of family warfare, betrayal, and just about anything and everything in between. Yet, there is so much more of this story that could be told, and the show left an open-enough ending for more episodes down the road. (Honestly, it was a lot more of an open end than we expected — but this season filmed so long ago that they didn’t know if they were going to get another batch of episodes.)
We’ve already said that with recent ratings in mind, it’s difficult to be optimistic about the future; but, we will have to wait and see what happens. In our opinion, the biggest problem season 2 faced was that ABC waited far too long after season 1 to put it on the air. Effectively, they ended up severely hurting the show’s chances at a viable future.
What we can go ahead and give you now is what Juliette Lewis had to say to Entertainment Weekly on the subject of if she knows what the future holds:
“Oh, God. I have no idea. There’s a few ideas. The options are endless and really exciting, but I’m not sure what else to say or where ABC will even stand with us. We just hope for the best. You never know — it’s all a journey and an adventure. I have theories but I can’t say them because I might get in trouble.”
We’re not quite sure how much of the Warner family, if any, will be in a prospective season 3 given how much of a turn the show took in season 2. You really don’t need many familiar faces in this show every season so long as you have a good main cast. With that said, it would be nice to know that the few “good guys” within this story do have some sort of hope for the future. Especially after watching this, we know just hard hope can be to come by.
What we do know is that “Secrets and Lies” is a show that ABC botched somewhat by keeping it on the air, and it’s a great, soapy murder-drama that is perfect for network TV. It’ll be a shame if we don’t get any more of it.

Through this rollercoaster…. proud to never have doubted Eric… Boy I wish there was a season 3…with Detective Cornell somehow surviving because she let her guard down and that is not good if youre standing in front of a gun. But even a dead Cornell investigation makes for an amazing and convoluted plot. Loved both seasons !
