CarterMatt Awards 2016: This year’s categories, plus nominations and results schedule
We’re now firmly into the month of December, and with that, we are pleased to say that the 5th Annual CarterMatt Awards are here! Last year we saw hundreds of thousands of votes cast in what were a series of at-times extremely close races, and it was fun and even surprising at times to see the results. Our mission statement with these awards has always been to provide a fun celebration of the year in television, and to recognize some shows and performers who tend to fall outside of the traditional box of nominees at the big awards shows every year. We have unique categories like Best Reality Star and Best Fanbase, but then also ones that encapsulate the entire year in programming such as Show of the Year.
The way the CarterMatt Awards are going to work this year are very simple: Starting on Monday, December 5, there will be a new category posted every day, and you will be able to vote for your favorite from our list of nominees however many times you would like. All polls will close at noon Pacific time on December 24. We will announce the results in special articles starting on December 26.
For the specific schedule of when certain articles and categories will be released, look below! These articles will be posted at approximately 9:00 a.m. Pacific on their given day, and we’ll update this piece throughout so you always have a landing page that will guide you throughout the voting process. We hope you have as much fun this year as we do putting these together!

Monday, December 26 – Underrated Show, Underrated Actor, and Underrated Actress
Tuesday, December 27 – Top Actor and Top Actress
Wednesday, December 28 – Top Showrunner and Best Fanbase
Thursday, December 29 – Best Couple and ‘Ship of the Year
Friday, December 30 – Breakout Star, Best New Show, and Best Reality Star
Saturday, December 31 – Show of the Year
