Is ‘American Horror Story’ season 7 hitting the high seas? FX’s teaser makes us wonder

Roanoke -

Last night, the finale of “American Horror Story: Roanoke” aired on FX, and following the conclusion of that episode, a certain something that the network did on its official Twitter page started to make us wonder about what exactly it is that the future could hold.

Basically, the post below features the words “sweet dreams,” coupled with some particularly-scary imagery, transposed against what appears at first to be peaceful water. So why in the world should we make the assumption that this has anything to do at all with next season? The primary answer to that is merely the fact that there is not a single reason otherwise for water to be used here. It wasn’t a significant part of season 6, and it really hasn’t been much of a part of the remainder of the series.

We don’t exactly think that we’re getting “American Horror Story: Little Mermaid” here, so we figure that instead, one of the biggest theme possibilities is something either aboard a ship or in close proximity to one. Maybe we’re doing something set in a port city, or themed around a beach. We do think that unless FX is completely messing with us (which is a definite possibility, given that they’ve done this before), this is some sort of hint about something coming up in the future.

Show co-creator Ryan Murphy has already said that the plan for season 7 is not to drag the theme on until the premiere once again; instead, there will be some sort of announcement next year. Think of the theme reveal this time around as something that’ll be a little more similar to what the first six seasons of the show pulled off.
