‘Longmire’ season 6: Katee Sackhoff, Lou Diamond Phillips, cast react to final-season renewal
If you’re a committed “Longmire” fan, then you may have already heard the news from earlier this weekend that the show is officially coming back for a sixth season! Unfortunately, there is also a slight bittersweet air to the news, given that this is also set to be the show’s last year for new episodes. We’ll at least get a chance to see the remainder of the story play out, though there is of course a part of us that really wished that it could continue to bring its unique brand of storytelling for many years to come.
Before you check out many of the statements below from some of the cast members on Twitter (as this is the purpose of this article), here is what star Robert Taylor had to say on his Facebook page:
“Hi all, well, I am stuck on a boat in the Hauraki Gulf, off New Zealand with a 60 year old, life long Cubs fan. We had a few beers last night………….then we had a few more. I’m so pleased that we will get the chance to give our show the ending it deserves. I love this show, I love everything about it, it will be tough to say goodbye. Thanks to all of the wonderful people who have been a part of this incredible journey. Also a huge thank you to our unbelievably loyal fans, you are amazing. Craig Johnson will never be done writing the brilliant books that started this whole thing off, so, I kinda like to think the old Sheriff will always be out there somewhere. If you happen to run into him somewhere, make sure you buy him a cold one.”
One thing that we’ll add on here to that is that hopefully, the show ends in a way where you can still imagine Walt out doing what he does best, given that this is in our mind the best way for a show like this to end. We don’t want to see anything necessarily conclusive on Walt’s career.
As for the show itself, it’s wonderful to get six years out of something that, in the fall of 2014, we were not sure we’d even be getting a fourth season for. Netflix is being exceptionally kind in announcing the final season in advance, and allowing the writers to come up with their own end.

We’ll of course have more news as it is announced…
