‘Chicago Med’ season 2, episode 3 preview: Secrets abound in ‘Natural History’
The further we make it into “Chicago Med” this season, and presume the more and more intense character stories we’re going to have. We know a little bit at this point about who some of these characters are, so we’re now at the point where we of course want to learn more about how they think and what makes them tick. This could take place, especially for Maggie, in next week’s new episode “Natural History.” We’ll see more about life outside of the hospital, and that should prove itself to be an interesting concept.
As for some of the more medically-oriented storylines, we think that the synopsis below offers up some clues:
“Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) and fourth-year medical student Jeff Clarke (guest star Jeff Hephner) are forced to figure out a mystery illness when an Indonesian man who doesn’t speak English arrives at the hospital in dire straights. Maggie (Marlyne Barrett) takes Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) to her family reunion where he meets her sibling Denise (guest star Alexandra Grey) and uncovers deep-rooted family secrets. Meanwhile, Dr. Rhodes (Colin Donnell) takes on a complicated heart surgery without consulting Dr. Latham (guest star Ato Essandoh) and Dr. Reese (Rachel DiPillo) and Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) encounter a woman experiencing an unusual pregnancy.”
When it comes to emotion, we have a feeling that this episode is going to have a pretty hard time topping what Manning and Rhodes went through tonight — but, who knows? This show has a way of surprising us (though people being surprised with terrible news is hardly the sort of surprise we want to see).
