‘The X Factor’ UK video: Samantha Atkinson returns (and takes on Adele song)

The final audition show for “The X Factor” will be coming your way on ITV this weekend, and judging from the preview below, you’re going to be seeing at least one familiar face!

The video below focuses primarily on the return of one Samantha Atkinson to the show, following her appearance last year at bootcamp. There was some drama last year between her and Ryan Ruckledge, and this is a chance to shine more on her own. Her audition performance is Adele’s “When We Were Young” — obviously, doing an Adele song is not the most creative thing in the world for an audition, but she does give a heck of a good performance with it and has the voice to make it extremely far in this competition. We suppose that for the most part, the only question here is whether or not she can sustain it, especially when the Overs category feels particularly strong this time around.

Following the auditions, you’re going to see the beginnings of bootcamp over the weekend, including a few little hints here and there regarding what some singers are going to be choosing to belt out. Eventually we’ll move closer to the Six-Chair Challenge, Judges Houses, and eventually the live shows. That’s the part of the show we’re the most intrigued to get to, since the middle portions of the contest often drag and it’s harder to keep track of everyone.
