‘The Bachelor’: Luke Pell fans petition for joint season with Nick Viall
We’re now over two days removed from “The Bachelor” announcement heard around the world, and we’re still not sure everyone has recovered yet from the news that Nick Viall, and not Luke Pell as many thought, is going to be the lead for the upcoming season. All reports suggest that this move was a last-minute turnaround by producers, who originally were going to pick the veteran over the two-time “Bachelorette” contestant.
As a result of all of this, and overall fan support for Luke, a petition has started up online that has, as of this writing, accumulated more than 800 signatures. The idea of this petition doesn’t seem to be firing Nick from his role. However, the idea instead is to name both Nick and Luke the Bachelor, similar to what the show did with Kaitlyn Bristowe and Britt Nilsson back a season and a half ago.
Would this be a decent idea? It’d certainly cause some more entertainment in the early going, since you’d have two guys each fighting for the role and the affection of the women. However, at this point we don’t see that happening. While we’ve certainly seen last-minute switches on the part of producers before (they did that with Caila Quinn and JoJo Fletcher just this past season), typically it happens before an official announcement is made. Typically, by the time the show names their lead / leads, they tend to stick with that unless something truly crazy goes down.
We do like Luke, and even if he’s not a part of this singer, fingers crossed that he finds what he’s looking for — even if it’s not broadcast for millions of people to see.
