‘The Bachelor’ spoilers: Nick Viall named new lead over Luke Pell, Chase McNary
Was “The Bachelor” out to surprise us tonight with its choice of leading man? We certainly wondered that, given that most of the night show creator Mike Fleiss effective trolled social media making them think that an answer was coming every second. We figured that he’d announce it mere seconds before “After Paradise” did, and we were fairly close to being right.
Now, let’s turn to the part of this that nobody out in there in the universe right about: Nick Viall is the new Bachelor. How did we not see this? Well, it’s because he’s already been on THREE shows, he’s still fairly controversial, and we never got the sense that producers wanted someone from Paradise to step into that role.
Yet, here we are talking about Nick as a Bachelor. We know that there’ll be many conservative viewers out there who don’t love this, but at the same time we’re all in. He’s been a good ambassador for the franchise as of late, and he’s also been really entertaining on most of his seasons. He’s brutally honest, and he’s the sort of guy who probably won’t feel pressure to propose at the end of the night just because that is the tradition.
As for what this means for the other contenders, including Chase McNary and Luke Pell, that remains to be seen. Like many others, we were very confident that Luke would be the guy, and it’s odd to see the show reverse course on that. In the end, though, the guy who watches “The Bachelor” for unpredictability really likes this move. With Luke and Chase, we had a little bit more of an idea as to what we were going to get.
The only bummer with this announcement is the timing of it, since it basically means that Nick and Jen aren’t exactly going to find love out of their time together in Paradise.
