NBC’s ‘The Voice’ video: Start time; assorted Miley Cyrus – Adam Levine soundbites

The Voice -

Tonight, we know that “The Voice” is coming on the air with a “special preview show,” but there’s still another question that goes along with that: When in the world is it going to air?

For the time being, the 30-minute special (which includes a coaches’ performance as well as at least a couple of Blind Auditions) will probably be coming your way at 10:30 p.m. Eastern time. However, you have to remember that it is following the Closing Ceremonies of the Rio Olympics, and with that in mind, NBC seems reasonably hesitant to want to dish out some sort of official start time.

Rest assured that when the show does come back, we’ll probably have some funny moments featuring returning favorites Blake Shelton and Adam Levine to go along with Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys, who are appearing for the first time. Some of their soundbites and goofy antics can be witnessed for the first time in the new video below.

Before we get to tonight’s episode, we do want to touch on something that we’ve heard time and time again from people, and that is concern that Miley is going to be this extreme / inappropriate presence on the show like she is sometimes during her music videos and concerts. Don’t expect that here. Compare this in some ways to Howard Stern on “America’s Got Talent.” Is that personality still there underneath the surface? Sure, but this is the case of someone making themselves suit the show rather than the show changing itself drastically to accommodate them. This will still be a family show meant for the same crowd, or at least that is the intention.
