‘The Fosters’ season 4, episode 8 review: Robotics, reveals, and Stef and Lena’s offer

Fosters -The fourth season of “The Fosters” has done a good job giving you a wide array of stories that are both informative and also true to life. That tradition continued on Monday night, but at least it was also a little more pleasant than the sea of depression we’ve been in with this show as of late.

The big source of inspiration came tonight from the Mariana storyline as she attended the FIRST Robotics Competition with her fellow Anchor Beach students. While she was at times a bit too competitive and cracking under the stress, she did help the team receive their highest finish yet in the competition. Isn’t that a cause for celebration? Well, she didn’t stop there, as she used information on the all-female team to at least have her school involved in the next round. There, they were able to pool some resources and think strategically to be the ultimate underdog story. In the midst of hardship with Nick and with Stef and Lena losing their house, it was nice to have a little break from it all.

Quite note: Before continuing, head over here to read our chat with Emma Dumont about filming the Robotics competition.

Over the course of the remainder of the episode, Callie and Aaron continued to work under the radar on the investigation despite a warning from the police, and Brandon started to buckle under the pressure of his Julliard audition. This put further distance between him and Cortney.

As for Stef and Lena, they did continue to look at selling the house to the point of getting a rather impressive offer on the house. The twist? They would have to be out by the end of the month. There’s your depression for the week.

While we’re not going to place “Girl Code” into the pantheon of the greatest episodes of the show, it was consistently compelling across the board and there were no dud storylines. We just have to see how many of these loose threads tie up. Grade: B+.
