‘Homeland’ season 6 spoilers: show boss on Quinn’s new lease on life
At this particular point in time, we feel like it is hardly a secret that Peter Quinn on “Homeland” is coming out of the ending of season 5 alive. We’re not sure how he comes back, but he’s going to. With that, be prepared for this near-death experience to weigh heavily on him and some of the decisions that he chooses to make from here on out.
Speaking per TV Guide while at the TCA Summer Press Tour this week, executive producer Alex Gansa handed down the following message when discussing precisely what is going to make the character (played by Rupert Friend) different than he was before:
“[His] very existence was in question, so you’re going to see a very changed and altered Quinn. I think Quinn, this coming season, will really represent a profound and familiar casualty of the war on terror for our audience. What he endured last year is different from what he’ll go through this year. This year will be fused with his daily relationship with Claire [Danes’] character.”
Of course, we do wonder whether or not we could be nearing a situation now where Carrie and Quinn could come closer together in some capacity. They had a close call back at the end of season 4, but his mission kept anything from happening. What we’ve liked about that story is that while it’s been dangled at times as a possibility, it has never been represented as the typical sort of over-the-top cheesy possible romance that you will get on many other shows.
