‘Supernatural’ season 12: Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles still help dictate future

Supernatural -

We’re now back with what seems to be our semi-annual reminder that “Supernatural” has no clear end in sight.

While at the TCA Summer Press Tour today for The CW, programming head Mark Pedowitz made it clear once more that so long as Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles continue to enjoy working on the show (and they do seem to still be happy), and the ratings remain solid, there is no reason to end the show. He’s confident in the direction of new showrunners Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer are taking, and why wouldn’t he be? It’s not exactly like the show is handing over the reigns to people who have no clue what it is effectively about, as these two have been a part of it for many years.

One change that is slightly different for season 12, as previously reported, is that the show is moving down to 22 episodes after producing 23 for several years in a row. This move seems to be one made across the board for many CW shows, which may be in consideration to how much programming they have as well as the fact that these actors need to sleep sometime. Given that Jensen and his wife Danneel are currently expecting twins, they need whatever little bit of extra sleep they can get.

The new season of “Supernatural” will be airing on Thursday nights this year following “Legends of Tomorrow” — we’re not entirely worried about the move, given that this is probably one of the most fluid series on the air in terms of doing well no matter where you air it.
