‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13 spoilers: Teasing up the complicated Jo – Alex story ahead

We know that Alex wants to marry Jo on “Grey’s Anatomy” moving forward. However, we also know that there are some significant issues standing in the way of that for the time being. For one, there’s the whole issue of her using a fake name for so long in order to escape an abusive husband. There’s clearly many reasons why she has been secretive for much of the series that she’s been a part of, and some of that could be blown open over the coming weeks.

In setting up what we’re going to see ahead in a new chat per TVLine, Caterina Scorsone (who is pregnant, but the story is not expected to be written in for Amelia) had the following to say:

“It got messy for them, but that’s going to become a really multi-layered story that has social and personal overtones…. It’s a real opportunity to explore some important issues.”

We would certainly be surprised if this was a storyline that was resolved quickly, just because of the depth of what we’re dealing with and the potential for tremendous pain that could be here as a result of that. Alex will need to fully understand what she went through, and we also need to as a viewer to fully be put in her position, as different and heartwrenching at times as it may be to watch.

Learning about this could also do more than just inform Jo’s relationship with Alex; it could clue us in more when it comes to her behavior with everyone else on the show entirely.
