‘Supergirl’ season 2: First look at Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman!
Excited to see Superman on the second season of “Supergirl“? Then odds are, you’re going to be very excited at your first look at “Teen Wolf” alum Tyler Hoechlin in the costume.
The image above is a cropped version of the one below, which features the actor as Clark Kent alongside Kara Danvers a.k.a. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist), whose costume from season 1 remains unchanged. The main reason that’s worth noting is because on other shows like “Arrow” and “The Flash,” we have seen some changes that have taken place from year-to-year.
By and large, Hoechlin’s Superman costume feels like a hybrid. The suit looks like it is made out of the same material as Kara’s, and the big logo is reminiscent of some of the original Christopher Reeve movies (albeit with a slightly darker color scheme). Meanwhile, this version of the costume has also done away with the previously-iconic red briefs, similar to the Henry Cavill version of the character from the modern Superman movies.
While he’s pretty buff, we like that Hoechlin’s Superman is not build entirely like a tank like the Cavill Superman is. This makes it feel at least slightly more realistic that he could walk around as Clark Kent without everyone immediately wondering in the process if he is some sort of superhero.
In the end, we feel like there’s a lot to like here if you’re a Superman fan. For the most part, we do feel like trying to please fans with a costume is one of the biggest challenges for any production house, given that there are a ton of people just predisposed to hating anything.

He just doesn’t ‘do it’ for me…. and I’ve pretty much been okay with all other big and small screen Supermans – so it’s not like I’m hung up on just one image.
Ah well. It’s not that big a deal! Perhaps he’ll convince me once it airs.
