‘The Originals’ season 4 to feature longer time jump
The fourth season of “The Originals” is not going to be premiering on The CW until early next year, and apparently, this is going to give executive producer Julie Plec more opportunities than ever to be creative.
Specifically, we’re talking in terms of allowing this show more opportunities to jump forward so that we can see where these characters are in the future. With it airing at a slightly different time than “The Vampire Diaries,” there are more opportunities to mix things up and tell stories specifically to this world. Per TVLine, here is what the showrunner had to say on the subject:
“When they shifted the air date, it actually gave us the freedom, weirdly, to shift the timeline in our favor so that we could have more time pass in The Originals between seasons than The Vampire Diaries … So we get to add an extra couple years on to our time lapse between seasons. It’s actually a good thing. It’s positive to not have to worry about being side by side.”
Plec also added that the theme would be clear for the upcoming eighth season of “The Vampire Diaries” the moment that you start seeing some of the titles. We’re not sure quite what this means right now, but color us intrigued! New episodes of this show will be coming sooner rather than later, and of course with that we do have some further questions when it comes to what could be happening with Damon and Enzo. They did have quite the cliffhanger, after all, to close off this past season.
