Emmys 2016: Outlander, The Leftovers, Hannibal, Lee Pace among biggest snubs

Emmys -There are typically a few nominees that you are happy to see score a little love from the Emmys; however, at the same exact time, there are also omissions that tend to make you grumble with frustration. Take, for example, most of our preemptive grumbling over “Hannibal,” a wonderful show we felt confident going in was going to be overlooked.

So who were the notable snubs straight out of the gate this year? We’ve got a small list below. Note that we’re thinking of these in the moment after the nominee announcement, and we’re certainly confident that there are many more that could come to our mind if we had a little bit more time to think about it.

Outlander – Despite the Golden Globe love, neither the show nor stars Caitriona Balfe or Sam Heughan emerged with nominations. At least it did get some technical nods.

The Leftovers – Unfortunately, the same goes for what was by our money the best show on television in 2015. Viewership may not have been there, but to be fair “The Americans” did get some love.

Hannibal – Like we said, there were little to no expectations here.

Lee Pace – We didn’t expect anything for “Halt and Catch Fire,” but we certainly did for him.

Patrick Wilson – Unfortunately, “Fargo” sweeping many categories was hurt by “The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story.”

Vikings – We had little expectations here, but for our money it’s a top ten drama.

Sir Patrick Stewart – We were hoping he’d land something for “Blunt Talk.” Alas, not the case.

Julianna Margulies – She was brilliant in the final season of “The Good Wife.”

Orange is the New Black – Where was the love for anyone in the cast, or the show itself? “Game of Thrones” getting so much love was a shocker.

Rachel Bloom – Apparently, winning a Golden Globe is not going to make the Emmys like The CW.

Eva Green – It would’ve been a nice way to cap “Penny Dreadful” and its run on TV.

James Spader – Still no love for “The Blacklist” star this year, though we predicted that would happen.
