‘Once Upon a Time’ season 6 spoilers: Expect some parallels to Evil Queen storyline
There are multiple sides to every person, and this is a storyline that “Once Upon a Time” has worked hard in particular to show off over the course of the series. In the very first season, we literally saw many characters play two different people depending on their setting. Now, with the Evil Queen and Regina split from each other, we’re getting another manifestation of this.
Ultimately, this seems like something that the showrunners are looking to introduce and include in as many different ways possible when it comes to the story, at least based on what executive producer Adam Horowitz had to say on the subject to Entertainment Weekly:
“The intent is that these new characters and new stories are really a reflection on what’s going on inside of our characters … With Lana and the Evil Queen, that’s the starkest example, which we’ve already teased. We’re literally going inside her and pulling her apart. There are elements of that that we’re planning to do for each and everyone of the characters.”
Emma is an obvious character that the show could explore this more with, mostly thanks to the fact that she has such a complicated history and was a criminal at one point in her life. Meanwhile, we know that Snow White has a rebellious side, that Charming (at least when he was David in Storybrooke) was not always too charming, and that there is such a present fear within Rumpelstiltskin that in part explains his addiction to power. If these will manifest themselves, and how, remains to be seen.
