‘Teen Wolf’ season 6 debate: Should Tyler Posey’s Scott have a new love interest?

Scott -

Mrs. Carter: In the world of “Teen Wolf,” love is a rather frequent thing.

Want to talk about the time with this show where there is not a romantic subplot going on? It’s off the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it variety. This is a show that knows its audience, and in the utmost of honesty, it is one that likes ‘shipping and seeing many of the characters going through crises of the heart while simultaneously figuring out how to stay alive in the midst of the world collapsing around them.

For Scott McCall in particular, we feel for him in terms of the number of times his romantic life has changed. Of course, what happened to Allison Argent has been fairly well-documented, and we now know that Arden Cho is departing as Kira. That means that season 6 is effectively another clean slate for Scott … so does that mean that there could be a new romance? Let’s debate.

The case for it – The simplest one is merely that it gives the fans something new to talk about, it introduces a new potential player to the world (unless we’re talking about an existing character), and it also gives him something more to fight for. When you’re facing death and have been beaten down so many times, it could be easier to lose that resolve. Everyone loves a good epic love story, right?

The case against it – Ultimately, Scott has a lot of other stuff to fight for, given that he has his friends, his family, his community, and even his own hero status (which he has to think about at least subconsciously). The show doesn’t need to always pair people up for them to be happy, and there could be something interesting that comes out of seeing a single Scott, such as where he would draw inspiration from, what him trying to date would look like as he nears the end of high school, or how he plans for the future. It’d probably be exciting for Tyler Posey to do something different.

More so than anything else, we just don’t want to see Scott paired off unless it is with the perfect person. We’ll have to wait and see if he meets her.
