‘Game of Thrones’ season 6, episode 8 photo: Photo of the Waif sparks Syrio Forel theories anew
Either HBO is really serious about having some big moments on “Game of Thrones” Sunday night based on the photos that they are releasing, or they are really just doing their best to try and troll fans. We’re not entirely sure just which one of these is more likely, but the latest image we’re sharing this morning is certainly doing quite a bit to further along theories that Syrio Forel, Arya’s famed “water-dancing” instructor, could be alive and a key cog in how she escapes from Braavos and the Waif.
As you can see in the photo above, there is a mysterious shadow behind the Waif, one that bears quite a similarity to Forel when it comes to his hair and even his clothing. We never technically saw the character die on the show, and that does often leave open the possibility that they are going to live to see another day. Heck, even when characters are killed off (Jon Snow), they’ve still got a chance.
Do we think that this theory is legit? Not 100%, since a shadow in a photo is not exactly what we’d call extremely compelling evidence given that this could just be fans seeing what they want to see. Personally, we do want to see Forel back, but having him turn up here on a season where Benjen Stark has conveniently already turned up in the right place at the right time would be a little bit of luck. We know for TV these reunions at the last second are fun to watch, but how realistic are they?
Given that this episode is just over a day away, we’re going to have our answer one way or another soon.
