‘Descendants 2’ casts young Ursula; Captain Hook, Gaston coming

It feels at this point pretty darn clear that the Disney Channel knows that they’ve got an enormous hit with the “Descendants” franchise. There’s already been one high-rated TV movie, and some other offshoots and franchising that has come as a result of that.

Now, much of what is going on is waiting for the next part of the franchise to come to the small screen courtesy of “Descendants 2” airing in 2017. We know already that Sofia Carson, Dove Cameron, Booboo Stewart, and Cameron Boyce are all going to return, and to go along with that China Anne McClain is going to be playing the daughter of Ursula, the famed sea witch from “The Little Mermaid.” (Hey, why not take advantage of this franchise?)

Given that we’ve already got descendants of Maleficent, Cruella de Vil, Jafar, and the Evil Queen, there aren’t too many other notable villains out there … at least other than Captain Hook and Gaston, and we know that their children are coming. The funny thing here is that these movies seem to be proving that there really is someone for everyone, including some of the most notorious villains that are out there!

In a statement discussing the sequel, Disney Channel head Gary Marsh had the following to pass along:

“Just when you thought ‘Happily Ever After’ had come to the land of Auradon, Descendants 2 turns the page to reveal a whole new level of mystery and surprise.”

Given that we are some time away from this ultimately airing, we figure there will be a whole lot more time to share some scoop over the course of the weeks ahead. Be on the lookout for it!
