‘Shades of Blue’ season 2 spoilers: Gino Anthony Pesi promoted to series regular
While the second season of “Shades of Blue” may not be premiering on NBC until midseason, the network is clearly starting to get things together. After all, they certainly need to given that there is only going to be so long until production starts in New York City. (It’s actually starting next week, which is actually much earlier than the majority of the 2016-17 shows.
We don’t have anything new to report today when it comes to new casting intel, but we can at least tell you a thing or two regarding who will be coming back in a larger role! Per Deadline, Gino Anthony Pesi is being promoted to series regular for his role as ADA James Nava. Nava was a love interest for Jennifer Lopez’s main character of Harlee, and appeared in eight episodes of the first season.
This promotion of course guarantees that Nava is going to be a key cog in the story of the show moving forward, probably both professionally as well as personally. It’s also a powerful signal that there could be plans for him even beyond this signal provided that the show lasts long enough.
“Shades of Blue” was an under-the-radar show for NBC earlier this year despite J.Lo’s star power, so what it really needs to figure out moving forward is a way to really shine and stand out in a crowded TV field. It’s a little early to know how they’re going to do that, but we do appreciate that they seem to be getting all of their ducks in a row.
